Iberia sets course for Angola with new Luanda route

Iberia has begun flights on a new route between Madrid and Luanda, becoming the first airline to make non-stop flights between Spain and Angola.

Spain’s first-ever air link to Luanda is expected to enhance trade relations with the African country, whose GDP has grown more than 10% during the last years.

Iberia has scheduled two weekly frequencies –Mondays and Fridays– between both capitals, using Airbus A340 and Airbus A300 aircraft with 254 seats. Luanda is Iberia’s 12th destination in Africa and its shortest long haul route with a flying time of about 7:30 hours. The new flight’s schedule ensures good connections from/to the more than 100 destinations the company offers in Europe, among them Glasgow , London and Manchester in the United Kingdom, as well as in the Americas. Iberia forecasts that nearly 70% will connect from different Spanish cities and other European countries.
