Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is eight years old today, the 5th November 2011.
The airline operated its inaugural, ceremonial flight to Al Ain on the 5th November 2003. A week later, it operated its first commercial passenger flight to Beirut.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ Chief Executive Officer, said: “Etihad Airways has achieved significant growth since it took to the skies eight years ago.”

Etihad Airways operates directly to 86 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Australia, Europe, North America and Asia, and to more than 220 destinations with its growing network of codeshare partners.
The airline has a fleet of 63 aircraft, with over one hundred more on order. It has won numerous awards for the services it provides and has introduced quality facilities across its cabins to improve passenger comfort. They have also played a big part in promoting sport in the UAE and sponsor a variety of events from sailing to Formula 1.
Etihad Airways is ranked sixth best airline in the world by industry watchdog Skytrax.
