Airbus have finished the Sharklet modifications to the wings of an Airbus A320 aircraft, the next stage will be the first flight test that will happen in very near future.
The addition of the Sharklets to the A320 wings will be to improve the efficiency the aircraft and so reduce the engine fuel burn.
This first A320 fitted with the wing Sharklets is, as it says on the aircraft, going to be “hunting down fuel burn”. In the video you will be able to watch the new wingtip devices being fitted on the development aircraft.
Earlier this week the Airbus A320 MSN-001 rolled out equipped with Sharklets (check out the shark mouth!) and will now be prepared for the first flight test. These flight tests will be used to validate the design and effect on fuel use and performance of the aircraft.
