This significant milestone was passed only two weeks after this section was delivered to the Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse. Moreover, it gives a promising indication of the A350 XWB’s progress in pre-FAL and the readiness of the aircraft’s systems.
Proving early readiness of aircraft systems a year before its first flight
The flight deck power-on is an important step towards the complete aircraft power-on and first flight. Airbus will now be able to undertake the huge task of checking all the new systems are functional.
It will be almost a year before the A350 takes to the air with its first flight. With the start of fuselage system checks this summer any issues should hopefully be identified early on and maintain this new aircraft on its approximate development schedule. The aircraft has already been delayed by around three months due to issues related to the manufacture of the new wing sections.
The power-on of the entire fuselage should be completed before the end of this year.
